What's Your Happy Scent???

How often do you think about your favorite smells and why they are your favorites? Scents that evoke feelings from memories or present experiences that create vibes that are relaxing, stimulating, or happiness boosting. When I often get asked about my products I usually ask if the persons preferred scents are fruity, floral, musky, earthy or woody. I have become even more fascinated (if that's possible) with oils and scent since I've been putting together my perfume oils and learning how to blend. So as we are quickly coming to the end of summer and maybe you're looking for a fun hobby, I thought I'd share just a bit of what I've learned.

Some of my favorite oils that create a sense of calm........lavender, clary sage, frankincense, ylang ylang (pronounced EE- lang EE- lang) and vanilla. Any and all of these are oils that I personally used by themselves or mixed in any variation.

In creating stimulation or feeling invigorated........citrus (lemon, grapefruit, mandarin, bergamot), peppermint, eucalyptus, and blue tansy. The blue tansy is a floral and honey with a bright zing to it, that I haven't figured out how to mix to my liking, but I love it on it's own!

For everyday mood lifters.........sweet orange, jasmine (pricey), helichrysum, geranium, and amyris. Some of these are not that common if you're new to oils, so it wouldn't hurt to get a book and maybe get a sampler pack if possible.

All oils ARE NOT created equal! Quality is important and understanding that in this case, cheaper is usually not better. Having knowledge of how oils are extracted helps in understanding why they can be very pricey, but there are companies who overprice as well.

When using oils as perfume, we have likely followed the example of the women in our lives that put it on the wrists and rub them together. Stop doing this........it actually breaks the oils down faster and the scent fades quicker. Dab or roll it on and let it alone. Hard habit to break.....I know. ;)

I could talk your face off about oils as this is something that I truly love and I just had to share a little.

I'm currently getting the Fall/Winter Collection together and to help usher that season in, the August Sanity Soap Sack will be Black Amber & Lavender soap, body cream and floral vibes skin mist! There are also some restocked scents back on the site and I'll be bringing back some old favorites for the new season.

I'd love for you to share your creations if you decide to dive into the addictive world of oils!
